Com o afastamento estranho de Jonas, em maio de 1996, Alberto Ot\u00e1vio assumiu a prefeitura ficando no cargo de prefeito at\u00e9 31 de dezembro daquele ano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alberto Ot\u00e1vio nasceu na localidade de Maria Preta, na regi\u00e3o de Igara. Economista, ocupou o cargo de Superintendente da Minera\u00e7\u00e3o Cara\u00edba at\u00e9 ingressar na carreira pol\u00edtica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ele sofreu um infarto no \u00faltimo dia 12 de setembro e, desde ent\u00e3o, vinha passando por tratamento m\u00e9dico. Alberto deixa esposa e tr\u00eas filhos.
