Naquele tempo:
Um mestre da Lei,
aproximou-se de Jesus e perguntou:
‘Qual \u00e9 o primeiro de todos os mandamentos?’<\/em>
Jesus respondeu:
‘O primeiro \u00e9 este: Ouve, \u00f3 Israel!
O Senhor nosso Deus \u00e9 o \u00fanico Senhor.
Amar\u00e1s o Senhor teu Deus
de todo o teu cora\u00e7\u00e3o, de toda a tua alma,
de todo o teu entendimento e com toda a tua for\u00e7a!
O segundo mandamento \u00e9:
Amar\u00e1s o teu pr\u00f3ximo como a ti mesmo!
N\u00e3o existe outro mandamento maior do que estes’<\/em>.
O mestre da Lei disse a Jesus:
‘Muito bem, Mestre! Na verdade, \u00e9 como disseste:
Ele \u00e9 o \u00fanico Deus e n\u00e3o existe outro al\u00e9m dele.
Am\u00e1-lo de todo o cora\u00e7\u00e3o, de toda a mente,
e com toda a for\u00e7a,
e amar o pr\u00f3ximo como a si mesmo
\u00e9 melhor do que todos os holocaustos e sacrif\u00edcios’<\/em>.
Jesus viu que ele tinha respondido com intelig\u00eancia,
e disse: ‘Tu n\u00e3o est\u00e1s longe do Reino de Deus’<\/em>.
E ningu\u00e9m mais tinha coragem
de fazer perguntas a Jesus.
